Vampiress Review: "Vampiros"

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0438551/?ref_=ttfc_fc_tt

The Gist: After being turned into a vampire by a woman after a one night stand a man seeks out the vampire who turned him.

Clarification: So this is one of those "guy down on his luck thanks to a broken relationship finally gets out of the house just for the first woman to give him the time of day to be a vampire who turns him" film.  After that the bulk of it is the guy (Jonathon) recruiting his friends and trying to find the woman who bit him for revenge.  Along the way he meets a gothic vampire named Christian who takes him under his wing resulting in finding out that both he and Gloria (the vampire that turned him) are pawns in a game of one upsmanship between two more powerful vampires.

Selling Point: It's a more action filled horror soap opera similar to an Anne Rice flick.

Female Vampire Factor: The main vampire who starts the ball rolling is Gloria (Wanda Rovira)
You eventually found she bit the guy (Jonathon) because she was in love with him and lonely and the movie especially towards the end takes a very soap opera like turn.  This is also the only point where you really see her especially during the end cat fight.
You have a few others.  A blonde in particular who gets quite a bit of screen time but is never actually named in the film.
She is credited as "Vanesa" and played by Brenda Robles.  The only thing we learn about her in the film is she is the main antagonists woman and her and Gloria don't get along leading to the above mentioned cat fight.

As per usual with this type of film you do get plenty of background vampires as well but the above two are the only ones where you won't miss them if you blink.   It's a decent film even if it is riddled with cliches out of an Ann Rice book.  Warning, it is a Spanish language film so you either need to know Spanish or get a copy with subtitles if you do take a look.  I give it a Vampire Beauty Rating of 3 out of 5.

Vampiress Review: "Dracula Unleashed"

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465444/

The Gist: An American business man comes to London in the late 1800's and investigates some mysterious murders of people being drained of their blood.

Clarification: So this is an interactive CD game which came out in 1993.  For those too young to remember these types of games they were movies where different actions led to different outcomes.  This is one of the few games of this type to actually get positive reviews.  At the time it came out for the Sega Cd and PC but was re-relaased as an interactive DVD game in the early 2000's.

As the story goes this is a direct sequel to the Bram Stokers Dracula novel.  You play the part of Alexander Morris who is Quincy Morris' brother.  You go around talking to different people who knew your late brother.  If you hold the right items when going into the right locations the story will unfold.  If you do not something "bad" happens and it's game over.

Selling Point: It's is a surprisingly fun game (surprising since major electronics manufacturers like Panasonic got out of the video game business because these types of games didn't sell well).

Fame Vampire Factor:  So as I mentioned if you screw up it usually leads to your death.  During the early parts of the game that death is generally at the hands of your turned girlfriend Annessete.

If you do well enough you will have some run ins with Dracula's brides.
They also rehash the whole "Lucy comes back from the dead" storyline with the character Julia almost scene for scene

It's definitely worth a look if you have a few hours free (though it's not as good looking the Sega CD/PC original is a much more complete version than the DVD cut).  I give it a Vampire Beauty Rating of 4 out of 5.

Vampiress Review: "The Bleeding"

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1206881/

The Gist: A guy finds out that his brother who he thought was killed in Afghanistan has returned and is now the leader of a group of vampires and he's the only one who can stop him.

Clarification: This is basically Blade lite.  Actually in all honesty it looks much more like the XXX porn "Dark Angels 2" (which in itself is a Blade knockoff) but without the porn obviously.  The film takes place from the end and then backtracks to show how the characters got to that point.  In spite of the fact that the film description given for it talks about the brother going to war etc.  None of that is in the film and is barely even important to the plot which takes place well after the guy is presumed dead (just in case you believe there is some drama elements to in the film which there aren't).

The bulk of the film is a beat em up action flick with most of it really just being an extended version of the night club scene at the beginning of the original Blade movie.

Selling Point: It's very fast paced.

Female Vampire Factor:  The Vampire brood has quite a few as it's a pretty large group.  This is very apparent toward the end of the film when you have the "Blade" knockoff dance club scene.
Other than that only two get any repeat screen time.  That being the character Vanya played by Kat Van D
and Katya played by Sindy Espitia
There roles are basically the brides to the main vampire in the film and are seen in most of the scenes in which people are being bitten or tortured as background characters.
It's not a terrible movie especially if you're into the SyFy channel style films as this contains a lot of the D list celebs you'd find in those movies.   I give it a Vampire Beauty Rating of 3 out of 5.  If you have nothing better to do and it's on TV check it out.
