Vampire Diaries introduces new female vamp this week

This week on the Vampire Diaries marks the first new female vampire character introduced in the new season as Emily C. Chang will be playing Ivy.   Ivy was the girlfriend of Stefan Salvatore in his new life that was recently turned upside down as his old friends from Mystic Falls decided to pay him a visit.  While Stefan admitted to her that he was a vampire she didn't believe it.  The last we saw of Ivy, Stefan's boss was being sent to bury her body after getting her neck snapped by rogue vampire Enzo.  This week Ivy pays Stefan a visit and informs him that she was forced to drink Enzo's blood thus turning her into a vampire upon her death.  On top of that she will apparently take to vampirism a lot like True Bloods Jessica. In other words she's looking forward to it very much. Below is a promo for the episode.

Speaking of True Blood this isn't Emily Changs first experience dawning the fangs.  She once appeared on a fake ad for the HBO series which you can see below. Vampire Diaries airs Thursday Nights on the CW network in the US with replays available on Hulu.com.

Vampiress XXX Review: "An Erotic Tale of Ms. Dracula"

The Gist:  A husband and wife team attempt to sneak into a vampires lair in order to save a girl being held captive.

Clarification: There really isn't much to clarify as the storyline to this movie is just an excuse to give the actors something to talk about for roughly a minute between sex scenes.  It is not a plot driven movie whatsoever just a couple of minutes of sexual innuendo between characters followed by softcore sex.

Selling Point: Great movie if you like simulated lesbian orgy's

Female Vampire Factor:  None whatsoever to the point that it gets a Vampire Beauty Rating of 1 out of 5.  This movie threatens to have a vampire storyline but doesn't and only utilizes names from the Dracula novel for the characters.  Long story short a guy named Van Helsing hires Mina and Jonathon Harker and offers them one million dollars to save a girl named Ashley who's being held captive at the countess Dracula's castle.  Apparently the Countess plans on turning Ashley (who's importance is never explained) into a vampire.  The couple get into the mansion under the guise of being misuses and any attempt at a storyline goes to hell from that point on as they pretty much have sex with everyone there with nothing else of interest happening.  In fact the only vampiric thing to happen in the movie is in the films opening credits and just after it's first sex scene when Ms. Dracula played by Alexis Texas fangs out.  This is the ONLY time that happens.
The only vampire moment of the film
Seemingly every year Showtime around October gives us one of these softcore porn vamp films for Halloween.  While I wasn't a huge fan of last years film it was way more vampire related than this one.

Update on upcoming Underworld movies

MOVIES...  That's right that is not a typo.  A few weeks ago I reported that Lakeshore Entertainment had confirmed a reboot of the Underworld series but this past week much light has been shed on this story and a reboot is just the tip of the iceberg.

In fact it looks as if Underworld is going the way of the X-men franchise which had spinoff films (The Wolverine franchise) and whose reboot "X-men first class" ended up being a part of a much bigger universe which included the original franchise.

In this case the next film in the franchise which is currently untitled will spin off from the last film Underworld: Awakening with the character "David" who was played by Theo James as the lead character with two female leads yet to be cast.

On top of this news Screen Rant is reporting that at the New York Comic Con Len Wiseman aka Mr. Kate Beckinsale says his wife Kate is attached to play Selene for at least one more film.  On top of that he also reportedly revealed that plans also call for what he describes as a "soft reboot" along with an Underworld television series.  So it looks like we're going to get at least one more look at Kate Beckinale in a shiny catsuit after all.

Vampiress Review: "Nightlife"

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097980/

The Gist: A female vampire entombed for a century is resurrected in 1989 Mexico and falls in love with a human doctor who convinces her that her condition is a disease while her former vampire lover wants her to embrace her dark side.

Clarification:  This was a made for TV movie for the USA Network starring Ben Cross pre Dark Shadows remake.  It falls somewhere between horror and comedy as any portion of the film that doesn't have Cross's character Vlad involved aren't very serious. Especially those with Vlad's bumbling henchman. While the parody portions of the film are very dated (IE making fun of a bud light commercial of that time period) it's still funny.

Selling Point: The character Angelique does get quite a bit of fang time.

Female Vampire Factor: Maryam D'abo who plays Angelique in this film is a good hearted vampire who just wants to live a normal life and is thrilled to find out that in the world she's woken up to she can go to the hospital and get a blood transfusion which curbs her thirst.  When Vlad finds this out his ultimate goal is to deprive her of those transfusions to the point that she's so bloodthirsty that she'll kill anyone including her new love and her sidekick/maid.
Prior to the end of the film when she's being starved to the point of blood rage Angelique is only really seen fanging out in fantasy and dream sequences as her biggest fear is loosing control (Next to her fear of bugs) which she imagines herself doing a few times.
This was a very memorable and enjoyable movie and I give it a vampire beauty rating of 4 out of 5.

Vampires Review: "Black Sunday"

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054067/

The Gist:  A devil worshiping witch brought back to life needs to posses the body of a young girl.

Clarification:  As the movie starts Ava the witch is about to be burned alive by a group of villagers lead by her brother for devil worshiping.  Prior to her death she puts a curse on everyone.  They put a mask with deadly spikes on the inside on her prior to burning her but as soon as they start the fire a strong storm hits out of no where putting the fire out and scaring off all the villagers as a sign.  They eventually end up burying the body.

Fast forward a few generations and a couple of doctors accidentally stumble upon the tomb of the which.  They then not so accidentally open it and of course one of them has to pull off the death mask, cutting himself in the process and bleeding into the mouth of the witches corpse bringing her back to life.  During this same time is when they meet the distant relative of the witch; Katia who looks exactly like her whom one of the doctors falls for.  From there you basically have two women who look exactly alike with one being good and one being evil.

Female Vampire Factor:  The vampirism in this film is implied meaning there are absolutely no bite scenes.  Much like the Bella Lugosi Dracula film you see the vampire coming toward the victim before the screen fades to black.
The main characters of the film are played by Barbara Steele who is very attractive as Katia
but Ava the vampire/witch is seen mostly with holes in her face until she reaches the point where she can disguise herself as Katia.
This film was made with a high scare and gore factor in mind and is not a romanticized vampire film like most of this time period.  It gets a Vampire Beauty rating of 1 out of 5.  For a much sexier vampire film with a similar plot check out the 1971 film "The Vampire Happening".

Vampiress XXX Review "My Stepmother is a Vampire"

http://www.private.com/movie/3545-my-stepmother-is-a-vampire/

The Gist:  A guy finds out his ex wife is part of a cult of vampires and her step son is their next target.

Clarification:  So I've got to cry false advertising as the film is from the point of view of the husband and NOT the son.  Otherwise it is a plot based adult film with a plot that really isn't that interesting. Long story short the vampire in questions ex is narrating his story to a camera before he goes to the vampires den to save his son along with his sons fiance who're being held captive by the vampires which really doesn't explain anything other than that his ex and her vampire friends like to have threesomes and orgy's a lot.  Basically it's the same general plot as the movie Innocence but replacing the school with a swingers club.

Selling Point:  The Sex scenes are very hot as long as you like threesomes.

Female Vampire Factor:  So I've learned that some of the readers of this blog do have specific likes as far as vampire adult films go so I will point out that this movie will not satisfy most of those likes.  There are no fangs during the sex scenes just biting after they're over.  There are two female vamps in the film.  First you have Vicktoria Redd as Samantha.
Samantha is the "stepmother" of the film but she's not all that motherly.  Basically all she does is walk around in sexy dresses and fangs out a few times but her fangs are barely noticeable.  After that you have Ferrera Gomez as Corona.
Corona is the daughter of Samantha who goes looking for her mother and when she finds her ends up being turned into a vampire herself.   She is the selling point of the film as her scenes are the hottest and pretty much the most vampire related with one lesbian-ish sex scene (by "ish" meaning two guys briefly join in) and one taboo sex scene with her storyline half brother to end the film.

At best I felt the movie was so-so where it couldn't have been better if the vampirism and not the cult aspect was the main plot point so I give the film a Vampire Beauty Rating of 3 out of 5.   It's a taboo/orgy movie with a vampire theme.  If you're looking for a vampire movie that's adult themed then skip this one.

Twilight's not dead yet

Twilight author Stephanie Meyer has announced a contest in which 5 aspiring female directors would be selected to create short films based on the Twilight saga to be shown on facebook sometime in 2015.  The contest will be judged by Meyers herself along with Kristin Stewert (Bella from Twilight) , Octavia Spencer (Academy Award winning actress for "The Help"), Julie Bowen (Emmy Award winning actress for Modern Family), Catherine Hardwicke (Twlight director), and Cathy Schulman (Academy Award winning producer) and the shorts will be backed by Lions Gate entertainment.

Kristin Stewart as Bella
Meyers has stated that the purpose of this contest is to bridge the gap in the lack of female directors but I can't help but think the subject of the contest might have a lot more to do with it.  Especially with the inability to garner the same success that she had with Twilight with the last Meyer book to film adaptation, the box office flop "The Host".  With Anne Rice and Universal agreeing to revive Lestat I fully expect the Cullens to return as the authors security blanket sooner than later with this being step 1. Especially with Lions Gates quote regarding this project helping to "Introduce the World of Twilight to a whole new audience while re-energizing existing fans" combines with Meyers own cryptic quote of "This is just the begining -A template- if you will." and most importantly she states "You can probably guess what might be coming next."

I won't grown too hard as some "Twi-hards" do get it such as Fleetwood Mac member Stevie Nicks whose music video for "Moonlight" was inspired by the series and VERY well done.  IF one of the winners decides more vampire-ism and less teen love drama I'm all for it.
