Vampiress Review: Cryptz

The Gist: Three guys are invited to a new strip club by a sexy girl on the street unsuspecting that it is run by a vampire priestess looking for victims.

Clarification:  Director Danny Draven said of this film that he was inspired by the Grace Jones movie "Vamp" which is very obvious when you see this film.  Unlike Vamp it is much more logical in that the premise is a lot more believable.  Also like Vamp (which is a takeaway for me) it's just as gory which I think as far as vampire films go is pointless. A vampire spraying blood and guts everywhere is like someone going to McDonalds and rubbing a Big Mac all over their mouth but only getting some of it actually in there.  You just aren't going to get much nourishment with that and that's the whole reason vampires have fangs in the first place.

Selling Point: Surprisingly more entertaining than many other movies in the "low budget urban horror" category thanks to some charismatic characters that overshadow some strange and sometimes confusing plot points.

Female Vampire Factor: As in many low budget vampire strip club films the rule of 3 applies here.  You have your tongueless vampire priestess Kulada (played by Ty Badger).

You then have your vampire waitress who seems to not be on the list to get a promotion anytime soon for one reason or another but gets enough scenes to make her worth mentioning played by Olympia Fernandez.

And finally you have your really hot familiar who is rewarded in the film with immortality for bringing in the three victims which makes her seem not as bad considering as a vampire she has an excuse for being as twisted as she is where she didn't before when she was just killing people for fun named Stesha (played by Lunden De'Leon).

If you're a fan of low budget films in the urban genre this is one of the better ones but as I said that's only compared to others in the genre (which isn't saying much in some cases).  As far as a Vampire Beauty Rating goes, it gets a 3 out of 5.  If you take away the gore it probably would go up to a 4 but even then the film "Vampz" is still the standard for what an enjoyable urban vampire film about strippers or prostitutes is meant to be like.

Vampiress Review: "Night Shade"

The Gist: A widower in mourning is shocked to discover that his wife who he believed died of a mysterious illness is alive and well and working at a strip club.

Clarification:  Granted, most Fred Olen Ray vampire films have generally the same premise (the vampire strip club) but this one has the luxury of two distinctions.  It's the one with the most female vampires, and is also the most frustrating to watch.  It's like watching those infomercials where they try to sell you some pointless contraption by making a simple task seem way more difficult than it is.  In this case the difficult task is standard conversation in which apparently everyone in this film is bi-polar.  I mean it's a softcore porn that even makes the act of having sex seem like a really really frustrating thing to do.  In one of the scenes the main character "Scott" might as well said "how dare you come into my house in a sexy dress and start sucking that, get out, I'm offended".  Again...this is supposed to be a softcore porn.  I guess no one told "Scott" that's what is SUPPOSED to happen in these things.

Selling Point:  A lot of female vampire stripping time killer scenes.

Female Vampire Factor:  As I said in the clarification this has the most female vamps out of any Fred Olen Ray vampire film he's done as there is only one female in it that isn't a vampire. Every stripper, and waitress eventually shows fangs eventually in the film.

There are only two main vamps in the film, only one of which gets any real screen time....

Teresa Politi (Jennifer Travers)
The fact that Scott was obsessed with loosing her is probably the only thing that made sense in this film as she's extremely hot.  Jennifer somehow became a vampire..How? We don't know as that was never explained but as a vampire it became required for her to work as a stripper I guess.  She got homesick and began to contact Scott through e-mail eventually bringing him to the strip club just to tell him she's alive but not allowed to know (she probably wasn't class valedictorian).  By that point it's too late because of the whole "going to a place he should probably avoid to tell him information he shouldn't know about the people running the establishment" thing.   That's ok though because she makes other way worse decisions throughout the film in attempts to "help" Scott as well including murdering his horny female business partner as a "warning" to her to keep away from him...... some warning.

Tane McClure (Charmagne)
So Charmagne is the owner of the establishment "Night Shade" or at least the leader of the vampire operation going on there. At least I think there is one going on there as we really don't get much of a back story on how any of the stuff is going on is actually going on, it just happens.  We only see her briefly throughout the film despite Jennfers frequent warnings that she is angry and is going to try to kill Scott.  Even with that all of her victims of the film are people who go to her as she never leaves the strip club.  Unfortunately for her she is also one of those "James Bond" type villains who instead of killing their prisoner, has to go on a long rant about how they did what they did and got away with it which eventually leads to her demise.  When will they learn? If you want to see her be a bit more vampiric I recommend the film Re-Vamped

So that's two hot vampires who really don't do too much vampiric stuff, several hot vampires who do but in scenes that are easily miss-able and a story which is down right frustrating. It doesn't have tons of re-watch ability but if you want to see girls with fangs they are there in abundance so this film gets a Vampire Beauty Rating of 3 out of 5

Vampiress Review: "Embrace of the Vampire"

The Gist: An innocent young girl just starting college must deal with life outside of her norm.  A life that is a lot more sexual than she might be ready for.

Clarification: This one is easy to clarify.  It's basically just a Cinemax after Dark style softcore porn with less sex and a much better and well known cast. Basically Milano's character "Charlotte" has sex dreams every night that deal with a vampire who is real and using them to stalk her.

Selling Point:  For you older vamp fans you might remember this film by it's other title "That movie where the daughter from "Who's The Boss" shows her tits and kisses a girl".  For you younger fans it's "That movie where the girl from "Charmed" shows her tits and kisses a girl".  If you need help remembering I did the liberty of throwing the scene in for you below.  In it Charlotte Lewis seduces Milano during a sexy photo shoot.

Female Vampire Factor: Unfortunately we've run out of nice things to say about the movie by this point.  The female vampire count in this film in the traditional manner (IE they actually show themselves as vampires) is 3 which are from the scene in which we find out how the vampire stalking Charlotte became one in the first place (orgy's with 3 girls never turn out well for the guy in films). The scene which is very VERY hot is below.

Outside of that we have one "almost" female vamp as the main vampire of the film temporarily disguises himself as a girl named "Marika" played by Jennifer Tilly.  As Marika he attempts to seduce Charlotte's boyfriend in order to get him out the way but the plan doesn't work.
Jennifer Tilly in full seduction mode
Sadly he returns to his male form to fang out.

With this I can only give the film a Vampire Beauty Rating of 2 out of 5. A remake of the film is on the way starring Sharon Hinnendael as "Charlotte" which will hopefully achieve a better VB rating. I should have more on it in the coming months.

Viral Vampiress: "Slayer Paris"

Slayer Paris was a weekly web series produced as a part of the fetish website "www.sciencefictionfetish.com".  The website centered around so called "nerd fetishes" including sexy aliens, robots and super heroines. Unlike the DYL media group of sites most of the series starred well known porn actresses and is much better acted.

Slayer Paris was played by Paris Kennedy.  Basically she was a Buffy knockoff who always resorted to sarcastic one liners before offing a vampire.  As the series starts she's just a hot girl who slays random vampire guys and who's clothes somehow end up not on her during fights which you can see in the first episode which is in it's entirety below.

but as the series goes on she gets a true arch enemy played by Natalie Minx. Minx is a very powerful vampire who can use magic and has many underlings who refer to her as their mother.

Further down the line Paris meets up with different characters with different abilities who go on to have spinoffs of their own such as Mina the Witch played by Mina Thorn who is in the scene below.
For a full listing of the girls used in these productions check out the cast list with pics HERE.

Vampiress Review: Gothic Vampires from Hell

The Gist:  A gothic rock band looks like they are about to get their big break when a major record label shows interest in them.  Unfortunately the price of fame is a lot higher than they know.

Clarification: Basically this film is a hour + long infomercial for underground goth music with the first 10 to 15 minutes (as well as the last 5 or 6 minutes) of the film just being random scenes inside a goth club with music playing in the background and little else.  Once the film gets started it's a pretty good story outside of the "B" movie level "action" and gore that comes with every feeding scene.

Selling Point: If you like you're fanged women moody and gothic then you'll love this.

Female Vampire Factor: The good news with this film is (SPOILER ALERT!!) any female in the film that is important to the story is a vampire by the end.  First you have your main three Annastasia, Fawn and Jasmine played by Gina DeVettori, Sariah Bishop and Kristen Zaik.
Bishop, DeVettori and Zaik as the main vampire brood

Annestation Nightshade (above) is the leader of the group and CEO of Gotham Records.  Under the guise of a record company they have "private meetings" with potential clients as well as rival bands in order to feed on them (below).

But something is different about the band "Gothic Vampires from Hell" and that lies with their lead singer whom Annestation not only wants for herself but believes can be their vampire leader.

Problem is that his girlfriend Raven (Jessica Remmers) is also in the band and stands in the way of Annestatia getting what she wants.

Super Spoiler alert!
In the end some weird looking goth guy has two hot women (his goth girlfriend and a rich sexy vampire record exec) fighting over him, he gets turned into a vampire against his will by the hot exec and to even things out he turns his girlfriend so that she would be able to have an even fight with her for revenge.  Does she win?  I won't spoil everything.

This film gets a Vampire Beauty Rating of 5 out of 5.  Outside of the live action very dull music video this movie starts out as it's a high powered fang fetish film.  While The other two girls in Gotham records have little purpose and barely any speaking parts, they all get their own solo sexy biting scenes to go with the plethora of group ones.   Gina Devetorri as Annestatia definitely steals the show.  Despite the sometimes corny dialogue you can't help but get drawn in by how seductive she is when it comes to getting her man.

Vampiress Music Video: Jim Jones "Retrograde"

Retrograde (Vampire Life remix)
Jim Jones ft. Eddy McKenzie
Produced in 2012

This is a rap video starring Jim Jones.  In it he sits in a chair performing his lyrics while occasionally being surrounded by female vampires.  The hook of the song is performed by DD172 assistant and producer McKenzie Eddy who in the opposite situation is surrounded by shirtless male vampires but unlike Jones SHE HERSELF is sporting fangs while wearing a form fitting short white dress.

Vampire Life is Jones catch phrase in a way.  It refers to living a party lifestyle in which you sleep all day and are up all night.  He has turned it into a bit of a franchise as he represents it not only through music but with a clothing line and even an eventual movie.  Below are some promotional pictures for Vampire Life featuring music video models Cyn Santana (Brunette) and Jessica Mericee (Blonde).

Trailer for new female vampire film "Byzantium"

Byzantium is an international vampire movie set to be released on June 28th.  The premise is a vampire mother and daughter seeking shelter and running into trouble when the daughter Eleanor befriends a young boy and tells their secret setting off a chain of events where the two must fight to survive.

The mother Clara is played by Gemma Arterton

Daughter Eleanor is played by Saoirse Ronan

For fang lovers this might be one worth skipping.  As you can see in the trailer these vampires get their blood through an incision in the neck created by an elongated fingernail.

Vampire Cheerleaders

In my never ending journey to cover subjects that are rarely talked about but probably should I give you a  combination that you would kind of think would get more attention but doesn't.  It includes two things that guys tend to like, a seductive woman with fangs and combines it with a girl in a short revealing uniform.
So why doesn't this combination come together more often?  The answer is actually pretty simple.  They're complete opposites which is extremely hard to bring together.  First you have your vampire.  Stereotypically they're night creatures who are very cold.  The only interaction they want with people is to drain them of their blood.  Second you have cheerleaders, they tend to be day people and are very happy and peppy.  The first issue being the biggest problem.  With the rise of the vampires becoming a stable of teen drama's the two entities are being brought together more often as becoming a creature of the night can't stop a girl from wanting to do all the things that make you popular in school.  So while it's a short list here are the examples I could dig up dealing with the subject.

She couldn't get private detective Rafe Guttman to have interest in her the way she was so the fiery redhead supermodel went into fetish mode trying to figure out what kink he was into.  Cheerleader was the first and you got an X-rated cheer to go with it.

In this 1999 "B" movie a group of space aliens attempts to take over the Earth via a high school soccer game.  The aliens turn the soccer team into vampires who then turn the cheerleaders who then turn the opposing team and so on.  Kate was the head cheerleader who was turned by her boyfriend who was the soccer teams captain.

The girls of The Vampire Diaries

Rebekah, Elena and Caroline aka the Vampire Diaries big 3.  Only Rebekah was a vampire first but she was too busy getting killed repeatedly to ever put the uniform on.  Caroline and Elena's vamp turn resulted in a short leave of absence from their cheering duties but eventually Caroline got back in the game.  Elena is the only one of the group to use the uniform to find potential victims (below).

The Girls of "My Babysitters a Vampire"
In the season 1 episode "Three Cheers for Evil" the girls decide to join the cheerleading squad.  Erica, to get back at the girls who mocked her when she was a "nerd" and Sarah to make sure Erica doesn't make a meal of the other cheerleaders.  Eventually we find out the head cheerleader is an old witch with ego issues who's cast a spell to stay young and popular forever.

In this film 3 Cheerleaders and a mascot are killed after a high speed car crash and brought back to life via a magic spell which required blood for them to stay alive..er..undead.

Sadly, that's pretty much it.  There is the VERY rare occasion that actual cheerleaders end up dressing as vampires some examples below.
