Vampiress TV Review: "Red Ruby"

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10065930/?ref_=ttmi_tt

The Gist: A high school students life is changed forever when a girl who used to live in his home who went missing in a cave accident in 1994 returns as a vampire and seeks his support.

Female Vampire Factor:  Ruby and her friends went down into a cave where a landslide resulted in them becoming trapped.  They thought they were rescued when a woman named Claudia came and found them but instead they were turned into vampires and held captive.
Thanks to fracking being done in the town they were eventually unearthed and allowed to roam their hometown for the first time in 25 years.

Ruby
Ruby is the title character.  In spite of being a vampire she has maintained her morals and refuses to give in to what she is.  Her first instinct once freed after 25 years was to go to her childhood home. Once she got there she found that her parents were gone and her childhood best friend Maya now lives in the home who is now an adult.  In an awkward twist Ruby begins to gain feelings for her friends son Theo who is the same age that she was when she was turned.

Amber
Also trapped in the cave but unlike Ruby Amber lost her humanity during that 25 years. Originally an unassuming shy person she began a relationship with one of the guys down there with them named Ian which brought her out of her shell.  Upon their escape Amber and Ian began a rampage around the city attacking and feeding off the unassuming towns people.

Maisie
The only vampire who never shows her fangs or is seen feeding.  Instead of giving into her fate as a vampire she spends her entire vampire existence planning on how she can kill Claudia, not only for turning them but for feeding on and killing her dying brother who was trapped in the cave with them.

Claudia
The Vampire who turns the children.  We never find out what Claudia's motivations were for turning them.  She does reach out to Ruby and talks to her in a motherly fashion but her only purpose in the series first season is as the scapegoat for recent crimes happening in the area that she is being framed for by Maisie.

 Annabelle
The daughter of the president of the fracking company responsible for releasing the vampires. As part of Maisie's plan to get rid of Claudia Annabelle gets kidnapped by Maisie and leads her father to believe Claudia did it. In the finale of the first season once she's rescued Theo who always had a crush on Annabelle is surprised to be asked out by her.  The last scene before the episode ends is Annabelle accidentally cutting her finger on her locker and as she bleeds it's revealed that she is also now a vampire.

Final Opinion: It's a solid premise of a show but way too dramatic for my taste.  The female vamps of the series seemingly spend more time crying than anything else.  If there is a season 2 it seems to be promising with the 3 female vamps of the cave coming together to go vampire hunting and Theo's possible relationship with vampire Annabelle.  I give it a Vampire Beauty Rating of 4 out of 5.
As a bonus probably the hottest thing about the series is the music video for it's theme song "Run You Down" by Australian singer Indiana Massara.  In it she sings the song as a seductive vampiress.

Vampiress Review: "#VampireLife"

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0714BZYZS

The Gist: Two stories that deal with women being attacked by vampires.

Clarification:  In the first tale called "Money, Vampires and Weed" three girls get held hostage by a woman who stole a large bag of money from a vampire.  In the second story "Crimson" a group of medical students help a woman who was attacked by a group of vampires who are looking for her.

Selling Point: All the stories do revolve around women.

Female Vampire Factor:  I've already reviewed the film Crimson which you can view HERE.  I will mention the one presented here is a thoroughly edited down version which takes out a lot of the stuff I complain about in my original review so the enjoyment factor on this version is much higher.

The first movie "Money, Vampires and Weed" on the other hand was my first time watching that and I have to say I was entertained. It wasn't bad entertaining it was dumb entertaining.  Basically you take the premise of the first "Purge" movie but replace the purgers with a vampire wanting his money and replace the family with three ditsy college students with the dumbest one being the blonde pot head who pretty much just let's the vampire in and talks to him like nothing is going on.
SPOILER ALERT The only negative takeaway is the fact that when the payoff actually does happen at the end it's so brief you barely see it.
If you're going to watch a version of Crimson definitely get this film and not it's original format.  I give the DVD a Vampire Beauty Rating of 4 out of 5 just based on that with "Money, Vampires and Weed" just being a decent bonus.

Vampiress Review: "New Blood Rising"

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2666286/

The Gist: A group of vampires target a young girl and it's up to a group of vampire hunters to stop them.

Clarification: This film was shot on a camcorder and was probably someones project (Seemingly everyone in the state of Ohio where this was filmed is a film maker apparently since there seems to be a lot of films like this from there).  The cast consists of mostly what seems to be high school aged teens so don't go into this one expecting "Fright Night".

Selling Point: As home made films go it's not awful.  You do have to deal with your stereotypical home made film issues like crappy sound, horribly choreographed fight scenes and a script that is mostly just people cussing at each other with no real substance but it is watchable.

Female Vampire Factor: Every female but one in the film is or becomes a vampire.  The main two are Jade (the leader Kayla Elizabeth ) and her goth looking sister with fake tattoos Ophelia (Vanessa Leonard).
The fangs as expected are very fake and plastic looking and in a few scenes almost fall out of their mouths.  These two are the only female vamps who have them.
If you're open to this level of low budget (cheesy) film and have the spare time go for it because as I said it's watchable despite it being a home made film (and a sequel will be released called New Blood Awakening sometime in 2016).  I give it a Vampire Beauty Rating of 2 out of 5

Vampiress Review: "Die Vampir Schwestern"

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjE78uqmOLJAhUKMSYKHU7bAqcQFggdMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.imdb.com%2Ftitle%2Ftt2186562%2F&usg=AFQjCNGKI-pBP4gjh465Kdnzg-8_d_R1eQ&sig2=9y4jDiBibm336RQwyAH2mQ

The Gist: A pair of sisters who are half vampires struggle to fit in when their family moves from Transylvania to Germany.

Clarification:  This is a kids movie out of Germany.  It follows two 12 year old sisters Darkarvia and Silvania.  Their mother is a human and their father is a vampire and they move from Transylavania around people like themselves to Germany where they have to live with and interact with humans and go to a regular school.  There they deal with bullies and making friends along with the fact that their nosy neighbor is on to them and makes it his business to try and destroy them.

Selling Point: It does actually have some vampiric moments

Female Vampire Factor:  So the two girls have completely different personalities.  Darkavia (Laura Roge) can best be described as gothic and wants more than anything to be a full vampire.
Silvania (Marta Martin) takes more after her mother and wishes to be human and lead a "normal" life.
In order to reach this goal they go to a magic shop where a man claims to be able to cast a spell that can grant them their wish.  Problem is he mixes up the spell granting each girl their sisters wish.  This results in Darkavia loosing all the vampire abilities that she depends on and Silvania pretty much becoming a blood thirsty monster.
The girls have rather small fangs for most of the film though Silvania files hers down when she's trying to fit in but after she's fully turned (about 1 hour in) she is full blown horror movie style vampire pretty much wanting to bite any human within arms length. Eventually they find a way to reverse the spell but for a brief period you got some great moments.   I give this film a Vampire Beauty Rating of 3.5 out of 5 with the fact that it's a kids movie keeping it from a solid 4.  The film has since had a sequel with another on the way so still time for improvement as the cast gets older.
